Hybrid Drawing Dance

Drawing and dancing in a surprising combination is performed by Yoshinori Kikuzawa, whose artist name is Kick. He writes down a choreography not in a way you would expect it, but in an abstract almost Pollock-like action. However Kick goes beyond the visual artist’s method which is favoring the hands. Almost flying, his feet and tinted stockings draw on the paper which forms the dance floor. His choreography is ink on paper in a combination of Japanese drawing and abstraction, generated by a hybrid dance, which pools streams of traditional Japanese, modern, and post-modern dance as well as street-dance and hip-hop.

You can watch a recent video of the Japanese artist who actually resides at the Gängeviertel in Hamburg at http://vimeo.com/68755030
